The Communist Party of Britain condemns Biden’s false and slanderous designation of Cuba as a ‘State Sponsor of Terrorism’.
On the 27th February the State Department Country Report on Terrorism 2021 which shows President Biden has fully accepted ownership of the illegal US economic war on Cuba, and in a way which carries on the legacy of Donald Trump.
In a statement released by the National Network on Cuba “Cuba’s SSOT designation, the U.S. attempts to criminalize normalizing relations with Cuba, exacerbating the already devastating impacts of the US blockade on Cuba”
The devastating impact of the economic blockade has hindered Cuba and punished them for supporting anti-colonial struggles across the globe or for simply following an economic path different from the neo-liberal agenda of the US.
Despite this, Cuba still retains a longer life expectancy, lower infant and maternal mortality rates, better health outcomes, higher literacy, more education, and less violence than in the US.
The US’s record of intervention in numerous sovereign nations is heinous, and truly underlines the hypocrisy of Biden’s accusations against the peace loving nation of Cuba.
We call on all workers, trade unionists, and supporters of democracy and justice to condemn this despicable move by the US. Take Cuba off the list and end the horrendous block.
